Paripalana Vedi, headed by Gokulam Gopalan has met the home minister with the allegation
that attempts are being made to sabotage
elections to the Yogam. The Vedi, in their complaint accused Chandrasekharan,
ADGP is pulling strings for Vellapally
Natesan, current general secretary of the Yogam. Mr Gopalan pointed out that
the district SP had assured all help for the peaceful conduct of the elections
and initiated steps in this regard. Things suddenly changed as the ADGP
intervened and brought in changes in the already reached compromise on several
issues including choice of booth agents. He requested the government to ensure
all steps to ensure free and fair polls. The Vedi also demanded barring the
alleged officer from indulging in duties related to the Yogam elections and an
inquiry against him.
The Vedi would be conducting a sit-in in front of the SNDP
headquarters today. The picketing is scheduled to commence from 11 am. Reacting to the allegations Mr
Vellapally Natesan termed the complaint as the last attempt by Gokulam Gopalan
to stop the polls.
“Mr Gopalan is sure of his defeat and is actually trying to
sabotage the election process. All attempts made by Mr Gopalan has failed and
hence this final bid. 13 cases were filed in various forums to prevent the
conduct of elections. We are hopeful of win and the Yogam cadre would
understand the real face of Mr Gopalan” - Mr Natesan told Asianet News in a
telephonic interview.
