Defense Pradeep Kumar was also present at the meeting.
"Several issues were discussed including the situation in India immediate vicinity," said one official. The issue of China has also agreed to have figured in the discussions.
Military relations between India and China have been thrown into chaos after it was reported last week that Beijing had refused to allow Lt. Gen. BS Jaswal, since there was a 'difficult' area under his command. Jaswal heads the Northern Command that guards the border with China and Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir.
He went to visit Beijing as part of an exchange of high level of routine. As immediate consequences of the episode Jaswal, three Chinese military officials denied the visa. Two captains went to visit Pachmarhi and a colonel had been invited to a conference called the National Defence College here. On Friday, when the controversy erupted, Antonio said the cancellation of the visit was Jaswal "no question of breaking ties." There are occasional problems but does not affect our broader approach, "he told reporters in Hyderabad.
But informed sources said the military exchanges between China and India had been put on hold until the problem has been resolved. "We must not only know the operation, but there is no sense in sending the exchange of defense, unless this is resolved," the sources said. The meeting convened by Antony is also understood to have discussed the construction by China of dams and roads in Pakistan occupied Kashmir.
