At least five people were killed by flash floods and landslides caused by heavy rains in Kerala's Kozhikode district, police said on Tuesday.
Rescue teams on Tuesday recovered bodies of five people including that of a woman and a child.
The woman and the child were assumed to be buried alive in the landslips in Kozhikode, said a rescue official.
The rescue team are searching for three more people, who went missing in the floods.
The Kerala government has asked for the help of the Navy and the National Disaster Rescue Force to carry out the relief operations in the affected areas of the state.
According to reports, two teams of naval personnel are likely to reach Kozhikode and Kannur districts shortly.
Heavy rains have disrupted life in Kozhikode's Pulloorampara region and Iritty region in Kannur since Monday.
Flash floods have washed away at least 30 houses in the state.
Floods and landslips have also damaged several roads in the affected areas, officials said.
